AirDroid is an interesting new application as it allows us full access to our Android device through our computer. Basic requirement is a wireless connection so a link is established between our smartphone and our PC. In essence AirDroid is a small window on your desktop that mimics the monitor of your Android device. You can check on files, names from your directory, you can send an sms from the web browser. You can even install/uninstall applications (apk), manage your device, play music and of course back up your files.
